The Stanza di Eliodoro (room of Heliodorus) is named after Raphael's fresco 'The Expulsion of Heliodorus'. This room was the antechamber of the private apartment of Pope Julius II (1503 to 1513). It was painted 1511-1514, immediately after Raphael had been permitted to see Michelangelo's work, still in progress, on the nearby Sistine Chapel ceiling.
